Privacy

Last updated: 1 May 2026

This site is operated by me, Valerio Milana, as a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. I am the data controller for any information collected here. You can reach me at contact@valeriomilana.com.

What I collect

I record basic, anonymous analytics for each page view and for clicks on the email and booking links. For every event I store:

  • The page you viewed and the referring URL, if any.
  • An approximate country and city, derived by my hosting provider from your IP address. The IP itself is not stored.
  • Device type (mobile, tablet, or desktop).
  • A random session identifier kept in your browser’s session storage so I can group page views from the same visit. It is cleared when you close the tab and is not a cookie.

I do not use cookies, advertising trackers, or third-party analytics scripts. I do not collect names, email addresses, or any other personal details unless you choose to send them to me by email or through the booking form.

Why I collect it

I use this data to understand which pages are useful, how visitors arrive at the site, and whether the booking and contact links work. The lawful basis is legitimate interest in running and improving a small professional site.

Third parties

Three providers process data on my behalf:

  • Vercel hosts the site, serves the pages, and provides the country and city information from your IP address.
  • Neon hosts the PostgreSQL database where the analytics events are stored.
  • Googlehandles bookings when you click “Book a free chat”. You are taken to a Google Calendar appointment scheduling page, where Google’s own privacy policy applies.

Linking out to LinkedIn or sending an email to me will be governed by the privacy terms of those services.

How long I keep it

Analytics events are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted. Emails you send me are kept for as long as the conversation is active and for a reasonable period afterwards in case we work together.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what information I hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to how I use it. Email me and I will respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If I change how this site collects or uses information, I will update this page and revise the date at the top.
